After last weeks disappointing venture into the champions league; ADO Den Haag ladies took on newly formed Ajax ladies. The biggest home crowd of the ladies season so far 1,236 waited in anticipation to see if ADO would return to their usual domainant form of the BeNe league. The simple answer was yes!
From the start of the game the ADO team pushed Ajax back. Lineth Beerensteyn attacked the defence at every opportunity, this effort and aggression was also matched by the energetic Libby Guess. Between the two of them, gaps appeared and ADO got some early shots in on goal.
The break through came in the twentieth minute when Kitty Susan got the ball into the back of the net, the crowd erupted and the players delerious, all piling on top of Kitty in celebration, 1-0.
A penaly was awarded to ADO in the thirty third minute, the Ajax keeper lucky to stay on the pitch. Justice was not done as Du Ruy saved the spot kick. ADO did not have to wait much longer to exact revenge. From a cross on the left Teresa Noyola met the ball with her head and sent the ball looping brilliantly over the keeper into the net, more emotions poured out of the players, obviously getting rid of their midweek frustrations, 2-0.
Ajax did not produce a lot in anger, although on two occasions Lorsheyd in the ADO goal had to block some weak efforts.
The second half saw Ajax be much more attack mined and cause the ADO defence some shakey moments, when they did break through, they put some good efforts in on goal, Lorsheyd made several good saves, keeping the visitors out. ADO also had two further great chances, both which were terribly wasted, when scoring seemed easier.
With a minute left to play Ajax got the ball into the net, a lapse in concentration and communication at the back allowed Linda Bakker shot across the diagonal to make it a nervous ending, 2-1.
The referee seemed to find a lot of added on time and was allowing many fouls to go un punished from Ajax players. He also missed a clear back pass that was picked up by the Ajax keeper, this was waved away, the crowd picked up on this and got on to the referee.
When the whistle blew for full time, some ADO players fell to their knees in joy, others punched the air before group hugs all around. ADO could have and should have won by four or more clear goals. This result keeps them in second place behind their annual rivals for the title FC Twente. ADO travel theere next week, should be a cracker.
