Charlton Vicento leaves ADO

Charlton Vicento will be playing his football from now on in Greece with PAS Giannina. He has signed a three year contract.

Vicento joined the professional team from ADO’s youth side In 2009. He played more games each season but could not force himself to be a regular first team member; both ADO Den Haag and Vicento think that this step to another club can help in its development it.

Charlton… We wish you a lot of success in Greece and would like to thank him for all the years at ADO Den Haag.

ADO ladies player of the season is……?

The ADO ladies players of the season was announced at a party that was held at beach bar Gotcha on Kijkduin beach for the players, staff and volunteers who have all played a part with ADO’s success last season.

The winner is ADO ladies super keeper Barbara Lorsheyd. The trophy was presented by the award sponsor Billy Allwood, owner of The Hagueonline.com

All those who watch ADO ladies on a regular basis are all still amazed that this super talented player still is not in the Dutch national squad. We have not seen anybody better. She is a great shot stopper and commands her defence with aggression. Her agility and decision making are outstanding and she never shows fear when going down amongst the flying boots of strikers.

Barbara said later “I did not expect this at all, it is a real surprise. It is a nice feeling knowing that it was the supporters that voted for this award. I really want to thank them all for voting for me, but not just for that, I want to thank them for supporting the team at the games, it is important to us.”

The subject of whether it was for her or for the whole defence that she was recognized as the  top player. If you look what we have achieved this season its not only the defence that gets a lot of credit from me but the whole team! We have been there for each other and sometimes you have to do more for another, but for that you are a team.”

The Dutch team was mentioned and she was coy with her answer. “I can say nothing about that! I can only say that I would really like it, and for that I have to show what I can on the field every game.”

Hopefully soon she will get the recognition her ability deserves and get that call up to Oranje.

A Swansea poets tribute to ADO

I have been contacted by Swansea City season ticket holder Noel Stephen Evans. He is a poet who has had a book of his work published. His love of ADO Den Haag has inspired him to write the following prowse. His book details can be found HERE.

There’s only one team, makes me feel so alive.

Who were formed way back, in 1905.

It was the birth of our beloved, great football team.

And the start of our, Ado Den Haag dream.

It was February 1st, when the plan was first seen.

At the Cafe Het Hof, Van Berlijn.

And in 1925, it was time to move on.

To our wonderful new home, our Zuiderpark Stadion.

We merged with Holland Sport, in 1971

Fc Den Haag, was the team we become.

In 1996, we were re-named back.

As the Ado Den Haag, were back to attack.

The Kyocera Stadium, was the new home for us.

As we destroy opponents, no problem, no fuss.

A 15,000 capacity, the place stands so tall.

The yellow and green army, giving their all.

We won two National titles, I’m sure you did see.

In 1942, and 1943.

In 68 and 75, our fans sang hup hup.

As we went on to win, the KNVB CUP.

So thank you to Happel, Loof and Boskov.

And Lex Schoenmaker, you all we think of.

For you we all chant, and with passion we sing.

Because we all say, Alles Door Oefening.

ADO ladies lose top player to Norwegian league

Sheila van den Bulk, ADO ladies experienced and tough tackling midfielder has signed a contract for three months (the remainder of the current football season) at the Norwegian club IL Sandviken.

bulk2Sheila leaves ADO ladies after six seasons, in which she won several awards. In 2008/09 she was voted best player by the magazine Woman & Football. In season 2011/12 she was a part of the team that won the league and cup double. Season 2012/13 again she got her hands on the cup with Sheila scoring the decisive penatly, calmly slotting the ball home with the last penalty kick.

After playing six years at ADO Den Haag, I would like to experience what it is like to come. to a foreign league and IL Sandviken offered me that opportunity. Currently they are not so good in the league and I see it as a challenge to help them. I will miss the atmosphere and my team mates at ADO but I look forward to this new adventure, “says Sheila in response to her departure.

First day of training

Wet weather kept many away from Zuiderpark yesterday evening but the welcome for the players was as vibrant as ever with the fireworks and flares welcoming the players onto the training ground.

Amongst the support was a group of around fifty Juventus supporters who had travelled over for todays Fan football tournament and they certainly added to the atmoshere.01 07 09
