Zuiderpark is disappearing

Today Dennis van Iepenberg was back at the old Zuiderpark, keeping an eye on the continuing demolition of the former home of ADO Den Haag.

Soon the only reminder of the old stadium will be the ticket booths that will be picked up and placed outside the Kyocera stadium.

ADO double header in the Kyocera

Both of ADO’s teams will be playing at home in the Kyocera Stadium this week.

On Saturday the Men’s team are at home to NAC Breda. ADO under the new leadership of Henk Fraser have started to turn things around. Sad views of Zuiderpark

As the work continues to fully demolish the old Zuiderpark stadium, fans are still making the pilgrimage to what was their former home, where the memories still linger for those who frequented the old ground.

There are plans to produce a book about the history of the famous old stadium, something will become a great collectors item for all supporters, old and young of ADO Den Haag.

Many thanks to Dennis van Ipenburg for the photos.

Shock defeat for ADO ladies in the cup

ADO ladies were dumped out of the KNVB Beker (Cup) on Saturday after losing on penalties to sc Buitenveldert, thus ending the dream of a hattrick of cup wins.

ADO started the game strongly and after plenty of pressure they took a deserved lead. A cross from Lisanne Grimberg was turned in by the alert Kitty Susan 0-1.

The game ebbed and flowed as each team looked for a goal that would either make the game secure or prevent a loss.

Disaster struck the ADO ladies, there has been a recurring nightmare scenario of late, conceding very late goals, This game was the same, in the ninety second minute Frederique Bonink beat Barbara Lorsheyd in the ADO goal, ADO heads dropped 1-1.

There was no thirty minutes of extra time to be played, the game went straight to the dreasded penalty shoot out. The outcome being that the ADO ladies went out losing the penalty lottery 4-3. The ladies were distraught and the pain clear to see.

Team: Barbara Lorsheyd, Marleen Joore (82. Hélène Heemskerk), Kim Dolstra, Paola van der Veen, Lucienne Reichardt, Tessa Oudejans, Lisanne Grimberg, Tula de Wit (79. Jill Wilmot), Kitty Susan, Daphne in ’t Veld, Anne-Sophie Bakker (59. Renate Jansen)

Many thanks to Marjon Oudejans for allowing me to use her photos!!!
