Left sided midfielder Xander Houtkoop (25) has joined ADO Den Haag from Eredivisie side Go Ahead Eagles (GAE). The player already knew in January this year that a contract extension was not going to be signed and he wanted to look for a new challenge. He has now found that by joining the team of head coach Henk Fraser. Houtkoop played in all but one of Go Ahead Eagles games last season and had a choice of clubs to opt for at the end of the season. He signed a contract for two years with an option of an extra year at ADO Den Haag.
Xander Houtkoop was a young youth and D level player and was scouted for the youth of SC Heerenveen. A breakthrough never came; therefore in 2009/2010 he went on loan to FC Emmen.
