On Friday evening in Leidschendam ADO ladies played their first friendly after returning from a summer break. Missing were Euro under 19 winners Lineth Beerensteyn and Jennifer Vreugdenhil, both given an extra two week break. Also missing through injury were top players Marelle Worm and Vesna Veltrop, both who should be back when the season starts.
The opposition came from Amsterdam in the shape of SC Buitenveldert. The first half was pretty well matched, both sides had several chances to score, but at half-time it was 0-0.
The second half saw a one sided game, ADO’s extra fitness and strength soon becoming obvious as they pushed the visitors back. They managed to hold ADO off until the fifty fifth minute when Tessa Oudejans headed the ball home from a cross on the right, 1-0.
It was Tessa who scored again in the seventy sixth minute. After a mad scramble in and around the area, the ball fell came out to Oudejans who hit a low shot straight through the back of the net, a steady and calm finish, 2-0.
In the final ten minutes ADO ladies basically encamped themselves around the penalty box of Buitenveldert. Tessa had three excellent chances to grab a hat trick. Michelle Vrieling got the ball in plenty of space in the middle of the box, her shot was brilliantly saved by their keeper.
It looked as though 2-0 would be it. The midfield of Buitenveldert were getting frustrated and some heavy and late tackles went in, leaving ADO players in a heap on the artificial pitch.
In the final minute another breakthrough. The ball came to the feet of Paola van der Veen about twenty meters from goal. She then moved forward, swerving with ease through the entire backline, bamboozled the keeper and slid the ball home, brilliant top class finish, 3-0.
Player of the Match: Tessa Oudejans, brilliant throughout.
