ADO ladies played against the B1 male youth side of HSV Duno tonight. On a cold night some of ADO’s top players were given time off or were out through injury. Yet it was a close game, which bodes well for the rest of the season.
The home side took the lead in the third minute when a defence error allowed a player to turn quickly and smash the ball into the back of the net, 1-0.
ADO were not in the game for the first fifteen minutes but eventually started to play their way back into the game. Paola van der Veen, Tessa Oudejans and Daphne in ‘t Veld were so strong and drove ADO forward. As time went on they grew confident and just before the half time whistle and error by the Duno keeper, allowing a free=kick by Jessie van Leeuwen to drop unchallenged through his hands, a goal ADO deserved, 1-1.
The second half started brightly for ADO, beginning how they ended the first half. In the fifty fourth minute ADO took the lead. van Leeuwin crossed the ball perfectly for the incoming Franca van de Kuilen whose header hit the top corner of the net, 1-2.
It took time for Duno to reorganise, but after a few changes in personnel, they clicked. They started to run ADO ladies ragged. They got level and then really went for it. They scored two more times to make it 4-2. It could have been much worse. The hosts missed open goals, had shots kicked off the line and others missed by millimetres.
In the final minutes ADO were awarded a penalty after Sharona Tieleman was fouled inside the penalty box. Judith Frijlink squeezed the spot kick just inside the post to make the final score 4-3. It was a good work out for the ADO ladies, much needed due to the long gap between games in the BeNe league.
