In the twelfth minute Standard Liege score what turned out to be the winning. After being pressed back in the opening period, they broke forward and Tessa Wullaert put in a cross that was headed home by Vanity Lewerissa, 0-1.

ADO almost got back on level terms immediately after a long range effort from Paola van der Veen forced Liege keeper Renate Verhoeven into a good save. The action was all in the midfield and the league leaders sorted themselves into a system and style that nullified ADO’s two big threats, Jansen and Lineth Beerensteyn. They marked them tightly and hit them hard in the tackles. Liege eventually earning three yellow cards to none for ADO.

The final half hour saw Liege happy to block off ADO on the halfway line and try the counter attack, which worked. The van der Veen twins were fighting like crazy, throwing themselves onto every challenge, Paola was really her team by example. Despite their efforts Liege did get through. Firstly Hélène Heemskerk made a great block in front of the goal line, soon to be followed by two good saves by Jennifer Vreugdenhil.

In the final stages, ADO had two chances to equalise. In the four extra minutes added for injury time Michelle Vrieling went close with a header and the final kick of the game saw Jansen hit a free kick that failed to trouble the keeper.
