On Tuesday afternoon and without much notice, ADO ladies played a home game against the under 17’s of the Dutch national team.
The home side started the better and pinned the under 17’s inside their own half. Despite all the domination ADO could not find a way through to goal. The Dutch then took the lead against the run of play in the 27th minute when Zoi van der Ven struck home, 0-1.
ADO were soon back in the game with two goals in two minutes. In the thirty fourth minute Michelle Vrieling headed home from a Renate Jansen cross, 1-1. The thirty sixth minute saw Judith Frijlink stroke the ball into the net, 2-1.
The second half still saw ADO on top in the opening period, they should have extended their lead in the sixty sixth minute when they ere awarded a penalty. The penalty was well hit by Jansen, but the keeper made a great save.
After the penalty miss the Holland under 17’s began to find a bit of rhythm and played some good football. Now it was more of a game. Their efforts were rewarded in the 78th minute when Pien de Beer got the equalizer, 2-2.
That was the final score, it was a good work out for the ADO ladies. It was good to see Marelle Worm and Jessie van Leeuwen in action.
