As of July 1st, newly appointed technical manager John Metgod will take up his position. This means that Rob Meppelink, who for the past year was working as the technical manager and also as head of the youth academy. Now he can put his full focus on the important training of the ADO Den Haag youth squads which train daily in the Zuiderpark.
John Metgod (57) has worked throughout his career as a player, coach, scout and manager. ADO Den Haag is therefore very pleased with his arrival.
After his playing career, which saw him start at Haarlem before moving onto AZ ’67, Real Madrid, Nottingham Forest, Tottenham Hotspur and Feyenoord. John Metgod went on to work as head of youth at Feyenoord. After a short break at Excelsior, from 1997 he was assistant coach to the first team of his former club Feyenoord. In 2008 he focused on scouting, but in November of that year, he announced that he would leave the Rotterdam club after being persuaded by former Arsenal Player Tony Adams to assist him in his role as coach of Portsmouth FC. In February 2009 Metgod left Portsmouth after which Metgod became assistant to Nigel Clough at Derby County. Since January 2014 he worked as advisor and assistant manager at the Colorado Rapids team in the USA. Since last summer he was scouting for players at Brighton & Hove Albion. ADO Den Haag therefore welcomes with pleasure this new technical manager who lives and breathes football.
