ADO lose at Groningen

Today ADO Den Haag suffered defeat away at FC Groningen. This was their first loss since the 4-1 defeat at NEC on October 3rd.

ADO took the lead in the twenty fourth minute after Aaron Meijers was released down the left, he beat his markers to send in the perfect cross for Edouard Duplan to glance his header into the far corner, 0-1.

Groningen were by far the dominant side. They pressed ADO back for most of the first half. Martin Hansen doing well to keep the home side at bay. Yet ADO still went in a goal up at half time.

Disaster struck ADO just four minutes into the second half, errors in defence saw the ball go into the back of the net from a final touch by Tommie Beugelsdijk, 1-1.

The second half was much quieter, both sides having chances. The clock reached ninety minutes and the fourth official showed five minutes of extra time. After the five minutes ADO would have been happy with a point.

Ninety six minutes played and Groningen got a free-kick. From the resulting kick, Danny Hoesen got the touch to give the hosts all three points, 2-1.

Extra security measures at ADO v Vitesse

However, ADO Den Haag will stick to the earlier reports that there will be tightened security in and around the Kyocera stadium.

ADO Den Haag calls for supporters to arrive at the stadium to avoid queues. They also want to ask you minimize unnecessary such as bags etc as they will also have to be thoroughly searched. ADO Den Haag offers in advance its apologies for any delays caused.

ADO ladies beat Telstar in 7 goal thriller

Before the kick-off there was a minutes silence in memory of those who died in last weeks terror attacks in Paris, a silence which was immaculately done.

ADO ladies started the game well, the only problem was that former ADO keeper Barbara Lorsheyd was in great form for Telstar. Maartje Looijen, Dominique Bruinenberg and Michelle Vrieling all forcing good saves from the keeper.

In the fourteenth minute ADO then shot themselves in the foot, despite being in charge of the game, they lost concentration at the back. Katja Snoeijs eventually taking advantage and heading home, 0-1.

ADO had one great outlet time and time again down the right wing. Looijen was making run after twisting run, never giving up on the ball despite the odds being against her. In the twenty fifth minute her efforts were rewarded. After again chasing a lost cause, she fought hard, slid in and stole the ball close to the corner flag, Her low cross into the box saw Nadine Fritschy get an unfortunate touch and put the ball into her own net, 1-1.

ADO went in at half-time 2-1 up after Pia Rijsdijk played the perfect ball through to Lineth Beerensteyn in the thirty seventh minute. In a straight forward one on one with Lorsheyd the ADO striker calmly slotted the ball into the back of goal.

The start of the second half saw the home side still dominating the game and after seven minutes got themselves two goals in front. After a bit of pin ball the ball fell nicely for Rijsdijk in space, her low shot easily beating the keeper to make it 3-1.

Just after the hour mark, ADO made a strange substitution, taking off ADO’s best player, Looijen. With the outlet gone, Telstar started to pick up, look dangerous and play some good, fast, passing football. The right flank release from defence was now gone and it showed.

ADO then lost two goals in quick succession. In the seventy fifth minute a shot hit Kim Dolstra, the deflection looping the ball over the wrong footed Jennifer Vreugdenhil in the ADO goal, 3-2. Just three minutes late Telstar were awarded a penalty kick. Hélène Heemskerk giving away the foul. Babiche Roof smashing the ball into the net from the spot, 3-3.

ADO then upped the tempo again creating several chances and earning numerous free-kicks and corners. Dominique Vugts coming closest to converting a chance.

In the final minute of the game ADO were awarded a free-kick on the right hand side. The ball was floated in and was going to be an easy catch for Lorsheyd. However Babiche Roof for some reason jumped across her. The ball knocked from the keepers hands and into the net, ADO snatching all three points in the final moments, unbelievable stuff, 4-3.
