As there is an internation break in the Eredivisie calendar this coming weekend, which means high flyers ADO Den Haag will not be in action, so all eyes turn to the ADO ladies football team’s return to league action on Friday night.
It should be an interesting start to the season away at Telstar, see if the team have managed to put their three friendly games against foreign opposition behind them. There were three defeats and at times they looked disorganised, yet despite their last 3-0 defeat at Borussia Monchengladbach, there were signs of a big improvement from their first two games. The fact is, their three friendly games were against top class opposition, so how this translates against playing other Dutch teams will be interesting. I believe things will get off to a good start.
The ADO ladies will also have the backing of plenty of fans at the game on Friday, as the atmosphere team will be their to back them with lots of noise and colour.
ADO ladies first home game is to be played in the Kyocera stadium on Friday 9th September at 19:30 when they host sc Heerenveen.
So please, come along and support the ADO ladies, it’s always a fun and friendly group who attend the home games. The bar is open and is a good way to introduce yourself to football in The Hague if you are unsure of going to an ADO Den Haag match for the first time.
ADO ladies have many new players in the squad this season, some very talented players who look as though they want to fight for the club.
Mathias Gehrt has left ADO Den Haag with immediate effect. The club and the 24 year old Danish midfielder have mutually agreed to terminate his contract that was due to end in the summer of 2017.
“The situation Mathias was in at the club was far from ideal,” said coach Zeljko Petrovic. “Mathias has been injured for a long time and has fought back with great effort. Only now he wants to play. And with the current competition in midfield that is difficult. Mathias has always shown to be a real pro, and I want to give him a chance at another club.”
Despite his departure Gehrt has enjoyed his years at ADO Den Haag. “I have developed myself here as a better player. I felt very at home at the club, and found life in the city of The Hague very nice. ADO Den Haag has always been the best for me, even in times of injury. But now I would like to move forward and play more. Since it is difficult in the current situation at the club, we have jointly decided to terminate my contract.”
Gehrt came to ADO at the beginning of the 2013-2014 season from the Danish side Brøndby. In his first two seasons he played 35 league games in which he scored eight times. The last two seasons saw the Dane hit by injuries and increased competition.
“We thank Mathias for everything he has done for ADO Den Haag,” says Managing Director Mattijs Manders. “And we wish him every success in his future endeavours. We hope that in time he gets what he deserves.”
Pijnacker01 is back in action at home games of ADO Den Haag. Below is the atmosphere from today’s game ADO v Heracles Almelo. The crowd made a great noise yet again at this game. I really suggest you come along to the Kyocera stadium to watch ADO play a home game. You’ll be made welcome, and live football is much better than sitting in front of the television.
On Saturday night, the KNVB, Dutch football association made the draw for the first round proper of this season’s Beker (Cup) competition. ADO Den Haag for the twelfth time in a row drawn to play away again in the knock out competition. They have been drawn to play at NEC Nijmegen on either the 20th, 21st or 22nd of September. Date will be confirmed after meetings between the KNVB and the television company involved.

For the third successive friendly against international opposition, ADO ladies tasted defeat. This time against the German side Borussia Monchengladbach.
This time they managed to start stronger than in previous games, as defensively they held out until the final minute of the first half. Where as in previous games they were behind within minutes. The hot weather also meant pauses for water breaks during the game which broke the action down. The hosts final ended up with a 3-0 win after scoring in the forty seventh and eighty fourth minutes.
Next up is the first game of the official football season. ADO ladies will be playing away at sc Telstar on Friday night, kick-off 19:30. There is much to work on, but there is enough time to put things right before the season’s opener.
