The biggest crowd for an ADO ladies game this season watched as Telstar totally demolished the home side. My previous post to this stated there would be plenty of goals and attacking football, but I never thought it would be against ADO.
The game began slowly, no side looking to apply any attacking pressure, very slow. The game came to life in the fifteenth minute when Telstar broke down the right wing, the ball eventually falling to Babiche Roof, who finished with ease, 0-1.
ADO began to pick up pace and it was once again captain Hélène Heemskerk and the ever industrious Victoria Pelova who were directing play. It all looked promising until Telstar broke again. Thirty eight minutes played saw Katja Snoeijs work her way around ADO’s number two keeper Isa Pothof and slot the ball into the net, 0-2.
ADO were finding it hard to deliver a ball into the danger area. The home said then had a goal ruled out for offside before in the fortieth minute Pia Rijsdijk intercepted a bad pass to the keeper. She latched onto the ball, went around Nicolle Martens in the visitors goal and calmly put the ball away, 1-2 the score that was the score at half time.
The crowd were expecting to see ADO come out and go straight on the offensive and get back in charge of the match. Sadly, ADO completely lost all of their organisation in defence and midfield and Telstar were given too much time and space, plus simple individual errors from the women in green and yellow saw Telstar just runaway with the game.
From the fiftieth minute Telstar got three goals in ten minutes, racing into a 1-5 lead. ADO looked as though they had fell asleep as Telstar cut through them like a hot knife through butter. Goals were coming from all angles and from long range. The pouring rain didn’t help Pothof in the ADO goal, as shots slipped off the surface at a lower angle than normal, making her job harder than it would be. Snoeijs completed her hattrick and Linda Bakker pouncing.
Snoeijs got her fourth goal of the night in the sixty third minute and Roof got her second in the eighty sixth. Both goals from distance and slipping inside the posts passed a distressed keeper. It could have been double figures easily for the visitors who also hit the frame of the goal and had numerous chances blocked close to the goal line.
The referee finally blew the full time whistle to end ADO’s nightmare. I have never witnessed the team play that badly before. It is just a shame that in front of a big crowd the team didn’t do themselves justice.
ADO ladies play at home again next Saturday, 25th March against FC Twente, kick-off 18:30. Enough time to get tonight’s problems sorted out and return to the side we normally enjoy watching in the Kyocera stadium.
