ADO ladies win in style at home

On Friday night ADO ladies had a great 3-1 win over newly formed Excelsior Barendrecht. From the kick-off ADO ladies dominated the play. It was a backs to the wall night for the visiting defenders.

After ten minutes ADO took the lead. Nadine Noordam collected the ball, cut inside, beating defenders with ease before, from outside the penalty area, floated a delicate chip over the keeper who had come too far from her goal, great vision, 1-0.

ADO had so much possession that they dropped concentration at the back. This almost allowed the visitors to get level. Only a great save by Barbara Lorsheyd kept ADO’s one goal margin intact.

ADO attacks came mostly down the wings as the midfield and strikers waited time and time again for a clear cut chance. Yet for the rest of the first half, the closest they came was when the ball struck the cross bar.

Second half was the same as the first. ADO on top, Excelsior having to defend like crazy. The keeper, Sofie van Houtven had to organize everything in front of her, as well as produce some good blocks.

As the game progressed, more and more chances came ADO’s way. Eventually ADO broke down the Excelsior defence. In the seventieth minute, Carmen Simonis worked hard to reach a ball on the wing, her cross was hard and low, perfectly placed for Marthe van Erk to race in and slam the ball home first time, 2-0.

The frame of the goal save Excelsior again, but again ADO, this time down the left beat the defence by speed of play. Seventy seven minutes played and Victoria Pelova collected the ball, headed towards the goal. van Houtven raced out to meet her, but the ADO forward stroked the ball into the back of the net, 3-0.

More chances came and went, Excelsior battled hard, crunching tackles that left players limping and in need of assistance from the trainers. None of it foul play, just hard tackling, great entertainment.

ADO couldn’t quite finish with a clean sheet. In the first minute of added time Excelsior broke down the left. A fierce shot was superbly saved by Lorsheyd. The rebound fell kindly to Solange de Smit who got a consolation goal for the Rotterdam side, 3-1.

It was a great display from ADO’s young side. If and when they win their game in hand, they would now be joint top of the league. All is looking good at ADO ladies!

ADO ladies frustrate reigning champions

On Friday evening, ADO ladies traveled to Amsterdam to take on the reigning league champions Ajax, at the Ajax training complex, De Toekomst.

Ajax full of experienced players were expected to be a huge challenge to ADO’s younger team. Yet it was the ADO ladies who threatened the goal on two occasions during the opening forty five minutes. This meant everything was going pretty much to plan with the game at 0-0.

The second half saw ADO ladies stay as a solid unit. ADO ladies introduced substitutes throughout the half, yet the formation remained strong. They battled hard and frustrated the home side. ADO used up the time well, making a final change in the ninety first minute.

The final whistle blew and was greeted by a very happy looking ADO side. This was an excellent point gained, when most expected they would leave Amsterdam with no points at all.

ADO ladies starting eleven: Lorsheyd, Mesker, Noordam, Pelova, Tieleman, Simonis, van der Meer, Kuilenburg, Daal, Speelman, Dessing.
