Former ADO star Sylvia Nooij sadly passed away

Sadly, On Sunday it was announced that former ADO player and trainer passed away on Saturday. The 32 year old suffered a serious epileptic seizure that she did not recover from.

This is a loss that has shocked everyone that new her and her supporters. She was a fighter both on and off the pitch. Strong minded, fair and open to everyone. I had the pleasure to get to know her a little bit more than most of the other players as she was doing her foundation work with young female footballers.

She was part of the team that won the league and cup double in the 2011/2012 season. She had great times at the club and was welcomed back every time. Her commitment to the club and football in general was outstanding.

Off the pitch she was great fun, loud and party going. Everyone warmed to her. So the news of her sudden and untimely passing is hard to swallow. She will be missed by many.

My heartfelt love and best wishes go to her family and friends in this time of sadness. We’ll all miss you Sylvia.. R.I.P. XXXX

ADO win third friendly in a row.

On Saturday evening ADO Den Haag played their third pre-season friendly of the new season, away to Halsteren. The hosts put up a better opposition than in previous two games, even breaking through the ADO defence.

ADO got off to a great start, Roycel James scoring an own goal in the tenth minute. In the twenty ninth minute ADO doubled their lead when Donny Gorter scored from a penalty. ADO kept on the attack and made it 0-3 in the thirty third minute thanks to a free-kick by Sheraldo Becker. In the final minute of the half, ADO conceded their first goal of the pre-season campaign, Thomas van der Spek converting a penalty.

The second half was basically a non event. All the action coming in the ninetieth minute. Thomas Meißner scoring to make it 1-4. Yet Halsteren still managed to grab their second goal in the dying seconds thanks to Abdoe Abdendi to make the final score 2-4.

Bas Kuipers plays for the next two seasons at ADO Den Haag. The 22-year-old left back will join free of charge from Excelsior.

At Excelsior, Kuipers played seventy six Eredivisie games in three seasons. In the first season he was loaned by Ajax. In Amsterdam, Kuipers joined the youth training and spent one year playing for Young Ajax in the Jupiler League. The Amsterdammer was also a Dutch youth international. He played three times for Young Oranje. He did that during the famous international youth tournament in Toulon. There Kuipers played with Danny Bakker.

Bas Kuipers: “After three years at Excelsior, I found it time to go one step higher, and that’s ADO Den Haag. A great club. It’s nice to get back with Fons Groenendijk. I played for him at Excelsior. I would like to fight for the left back position, but I can also act as an attacking left-wing back. ADO finished well last season. I hope to help to keep that series continue.”

Manager of Football Affairs Jeffrey van As: “With Bas, we have a player who has proven to be a good player in the Eredivisie in recent years. He already has a lot of experience, despite his age. Bas had an excellent learning base at Ajax going through the entire youth training system. Bas is a left back, which gives us extra possibilities in the back. Fons Groenendijk the trainer also knows that, so we know Bas well.

Henrik-Jan Rinner new financial director ADO Den Haag

Henrik-Jan Rinner is the new Financial Director of ADO Den Haag. The 48-year-old Advocate immediately commits himself to the Hague club as successor to Peter Ooijendijk, who held the position on an interim basis for over a year.

Rinner is from Stage Entertainment, where he worked for several years in various executive positions of the company’s operating companies. For more than 10 years, Rinner has played a prominent role in the development of Holiday On Ice, initially in the position of CFO and from 2013 as CEO. Rinner, in charge of four new Holiday On Ice productions, was also the inspiring force behind Ice Age on Ice. Following the acquisition of Holiday On Ice by the new owner CTS Eventim in the summer of 2016, he has now decided to face a new professional challenge. He has found that challenge at ADO, where he will join up with Director General Mattijs Manders.

Rinner is new in professional football, but well known in the Hague for his work in amateur football. Since early 2017 he is treasurer of VV Wilhelmus in Voorburg. Rinner sought and found a challenge at ADO. “ADO Den Haag is a beautiful historical club and the role of Financial Director at a BVO is a great sequel to my live entertainment experiences.”
