After a weekend of turmoil for the local club, Monday evening saw the ADO team return to training in the old Zuiderpark stadium getting ready for the new season.
There were I estimate around 1500 fans there to watch their heroes and also to ask questions and voice concerns over recent events.
The big question being would manager John van den Brom turn up to take the training session after all the rumour and counter rumour about him being headhunted by Vitesse? The answer was no, he did not! At the start of the evening, the fans chanted his name, but when he was a no show, the chants of a hero changed to some chants of a more derogatory nature.
As the players came onto the training pitch they were greeted by flares, fireworks, banners and singing and the players lapped it up. Each player had his named chanted and in turn they acknowledged the fans adoration.
The players looked fit and sharp, no surprise really as they had their season extended due to the play-offs and a quick return to training due to the Europa League matches starting so early.
There are still a few weeks to go now before the transfer deadline is reached and it seems that many ADO players are on top of a lot of shopping lists. Verhoek wanted by Aston Villa in the English premier league. Immers wanted by both West Ham United and Leeds United, both in the second tier of English football. Toornstra a target for Eredivisie rivals FC Utrecht and as of yet, still no real news of Bulykin’s future, although that looks doubtful due to Anderlecht’s wishes more than Bulykin’s, who has stated on more than one occasion his desire to stay at ADO. The next few weeks are a nail biting time for all those involved with our local club, will v/d Brom still be the manager, which players will leave for pastures new?
The football fixtures for the coming season have now been confirmed by the KNVB, the Dutch football governing body. So listed below are the home fixtures for ADO Den Haag, put them in your diary and do make the effort to go and vist the Kyocera stadion and support your local team. I promise you will enjoy the experience and once you have been for the first time, I am sure you will want to return.
