ADO Den Haag 1 v 2 K.V.Kortrijk
On Saturday afternoon ADO took on Belgian side K.V.Kortrijk in their second pre-season friendly. The opposition would surely give ADO Den Haag a tougher test than they had last weekend against HVV Laakkwartier, and so it proved.
ADO took the lead after nine minutes when Aaron Meijers brilliantly slid in to fire the ball into the back of the net: The goal finally rousing the home supporters who braved the rainy conditions.
ADO played a lot down the left asking much of Vicento to work his magic to provide crosses for the forwards. Poepon certainly looks like a good signing, powerful and full of running.
The rest of the first half was pretty much even, Kortrijk giving ADO’s defence a good work out, as ADO battled to keep the Kortrijk forwards at bay.
Kortrijk got a deserved equaliser in the forty third minute thanks to a goal by Baptiste Martin. ADO soon found themselves a goal behind when a minute later Brecht Capon got a second for Kortrijk. The goal was greeted buy joyous cheers from the small band of visiting supporters who were mingled in with the ADO fans.
The second half saw ADO dominate possession but do nothing with the final ball; there were chances but nothing that really troubled Kristof van Hout in the Kortrijk goal.
Steijn made some changes but ADO could not break down a well regimented back line of the visitors.
The final whistle was met with applause from the supporters of both teams who shared a beer together, a good game in a nice friendly atmosphere. It just shows, last week there were ten goals, but entertainment was lacking, only three goal in this match, but it far more enjoyable than last weeks effort.
Attendance: No official figure given, I would estimate around 11-1200.
