ADO v PSV

Firstly apologies for a not so detailed report, I was not able to go to the game.

ADO played their final game of the season at home to newly crowned league champions PSV Eindhoven. ADO were safe from relegaton, so normally this game would be considered of no interest. However, PSV seemed to be taking the prospect of taking on ADO far too lightly, as they decided to go on a break to Ibiza last week. A decision that riled the club and fans of ADO.

The stadium was full of colour and noise as the teams came out onto the pitch. New giant banners in the stands, lots of yellow and green flags, a great way to start the last game. The fans truly put on a spectacular show of support.

It was an entertaining game, ADO played well and twice took the lead. In the twenty fourth minute Iakovenko put ADO in front. In the final minute of the first half PSV drew level thanks to Narsingh, 1-1.

ADO were playing well and the fans were really behind them, roaring them forward. In the second half ADO again got in front. The young bright star Danny Bakker with a delightful chipped finish in the fifty sixth minute made it 2-1.

Sadly ADO could not hold on to their lead. In the sixty first minute Luuk de Jong made it 2-2. In the fourth minute of second half injury time the visitors got an undeserved winning goal. Wijnaldum getting the winner 2-3.

After the game the players did a lap of honour around the stadium to applaud the fans, sure to be the last time a few of the ADO players will be seen in the green and yellow shirt again. The player of the year awards were also handed out.

A huge thank you to Robert John Henderson for the photos!
