ADO Den Haag played their first friendly of the pre season at the home of DVV Delft. The match was arranged as part of the Delft club’s 100 year anniversary. ADO decided before the kick-off to use all their squad, making it different teams each half. The highlight for the club was the return of Kevin Jansen who had missed nearly all of last season after a serious knee sustained at NAC Breda early in the season.
First goal of the season was after just four minutes, a thunderous drive from 25m out by Ricky van Haaren, welcome to the new season, BANG! 0-1. A second quickly followed when recalled player Giovanni Korte hit the back of the net, 0-2.
ADO could have several more goals in the middle of the half, but the DVV keeper Klaas Van Baalen was producing some fine saves to keep his side in the game. A third did arrive for ADO when Mathias Gehrt pounced to make it 0-3.
The home side got a goal their anniversary celebration deserved, a minute before the end of the first half Tyson Waser got through and stroked the ball home, 1-3.
Second half saw both teams make wholesale changes to their line ups. The second half was a slower affair, chances harder to come by, But ADO did score two, first from much criticized Rydell Poepon, who had earlier missed an open goal and several other chances before slamming the ball into the back of the net in the seventy third minute, 1-4.
A final goal came from Mitchell Schet, a great volley after a great cross from Xander Houtkoop, 1-5. That was the end of the scoring.
It was a good work out for the ADO side. A few of the new players and youngsters caught my eye as exciting prospects, namely Tyronne Ebuehi and Xander Houtkoop.
Before the Eredivisie starts again in August, ADO will play six more friendlies and have a week’s training camp away.
