PEC Zwolle v ADO

ADO for Expats was not at the game, so report is made from watching the TV highlights only.

After two defeats in a row ADO were hoping to bring at least a point back from Zwolle. However they returned with none. Despite leading at half time thanks to a goal by Mike Havenaar scored in the thirty fifth after a well placed curling shot into the back of the net, 0-1.

Either side of that goal, the home side had been dominant and had kept ADO at bay. ADO’s defence was giving the Zwolle players far too much space in and around the danger area, so were lucky to be in front at half time.

The second half started well for ADO, who almost extended their lead when a well struck free-kick by Roland Alberg curled over the wall and clipped the top of the crossbar.

Then as the game continued, the home side took control. The pressure eventually paid off and they scored two goals in ten minutes. The first coming in the sixty ninth minute. Sheraldo Becker was close to the dead ball line but somehow he lifted the ball high over Martin Hansen from close range amd into the net. Becker later admitting it was actually an attempted cross. 1-1.

Seventy nine minutes in and Zwolle took the lead. Lars Veldwijk found himself with the ball on the edge of the ADO area. Gianni Zuiverloon was too close to the striker and was turned to easily allowing the forward to score the winning goal, 2-1.

As the game was coming to end, Giovanni Korte was smashed in the face from close range by the ball as Bart van Hintum attempted to clear the ball. Korte was knocked out and after treatment on the pitch was taken to hospital for tests, was was cleared to leave soon after.
