sc Heerenveen v ADO

ADO Den Haag ended 2015 in the best way possible, recording a 0-4 win at sc Heerenveen that leaves ADO in tenth place in the Eredivisie.

The game began slowly with neither side making much of an impact or creating any serious threats on goal.

ADO had to wait until the twenty first minute to get a shot on goal and it was worth waiting for. From a throw in the ball was headed on to Danny Bakker who played the ball onto the edge of the penalty area. Aaron Meijers ran in and calmly hit his shot into the far corner, great finish, 0-1.

For the rest of the first half Heerenveen created more chances, but none of which troubled Martin Hansen in the ADO goal. Edouard Duplan had ADO’s only other effort on goal, forcing a good block from the Erwin Mulder in the Heerenveen goal.

In the fifty first minute ADO extended their lead. A strong challenge in the midfield saw the ball fall clear to Bakker. With no defenders in front of him, he only had a stare down with Mulder in goal. Bakker kept his nerve and slotted the ball into the back of the net, 0-2.

Heerenveen soon went on the attack. A minute after going two behind, from a corner kick, Kenneth Otigba powered a header goalwards, unfortunately for him, Meijers was standing on the line to clear the ball to safety. On the hour the hosts almost scored again. This time a free kick floated in and a header from Jerry St. Juste forced Hansen in to a good save.

After that scare for ADO, the visitors totally took control. Ruben Schaken saw an effort go wide of the post. Then two corners, the first almost being converted, but the second resulted in a goal. Bakker took the corner, the ball headed on and fell to the feet of Tommie Beugelsdijk. His composure was excellent as he knocked the ball sideways to beat a defender before smashing the ball left footed into the back of the net, a stunning strike, 0-3.

In the first minute of injury time ADO got their fourth. Heerenveen by now lacking concentration allowed Kevin Jansen to steal the ball. He raced forward, going through four defenders before hitting the back of the net, yet another great finish by ADO, 0-4. A great way to end a turbulent year at our local club.
