ADO returned to Eredivisie action after the winter break. Unfortunately for ADO many first team players were away due to injury, international duty and sickness. So before a ball was even kicked ADO were at a disadvantage. The set up was a new 5-3-2-system that was tried out during the winter training, the coach also giving Trevor David his first league start.
The first half was a dull affair, chances were rare, the skill level low. the half ending 0-0.
The second half started pretty much the same as the first ended. Then Heerenveen caught out ADO with a double knockout. Two goals in a minute. Reza Ghoochannejhad scoring both in the sixty third and sixty forth minute. ADO heads dropped, 2-0.
It could have been worse, Heerenveen also missed a penalty in the eighty first minute. The home side seemed to settle for the two goal advantage as ADO were never in danger of threatening the Heerenveen goal.
The game ended and ADO lost their first game of 2017. A very disappointing performance.
