On Saturday afternoon VV Katwijk hosted ADO Den Haag in the club’s third friendly heading towards the new Eredivisie season. The game was much better for the spectators to watch than the boring game last Wednesday.
ADO took the lead in only the third minute. Edouard Duplan slotting the ball home to give ADO an early lead, 0-1. ADO were playing mainly down the left wing, Aaron Meijers in particular being a constant threat. When it wasn’t down the left flank, Ruben Schaken was bombing down the right, plenty of crosses coming into the area for Mike Havenaar to try and get his head to.
After Katwijk forced Robert Zwinkels into making a good save ADO were the dominant side. It took until the fifteenth minute for ADO to build on their lead. The Katwijk keeper Richard de Groot had made some good save before beaten by Schaken, 0-2. In the thirty eighth minute Duplan scored again, a sweet curling shot into the back of the net, 0-3.
As with all friendlies, many changes were made by both side during the second half. A lot of ADO’s youngsters making an appearance. ADO were creating plenty of chances and had the host’s defence on the back foot.
The Fourth goal arrived late on, Gervane Kastaneer in the eighty first minute after a good move, 0-4. Then just two minutes later ADO finished the scoring at 0-5 when Hector Hevel put the ball into the Katwijk goal, 0-5.
It was a decent workout for ADO Den Haag. The play was looking smooth and communication was excellent. On Monday ADO go to Leende for their summer training camp. ON the last day there they will play FC Eindhoven as they build towards the next season.
