ADO Den Haag played their final friendly of their pre-season build up, this time facing Excelsior of Rotterdam and yet again they came out victorious.
The game played in bright sunshine started well for ADO, they were calm in possession and at times played some excellent one touch football. ADO could not make their dominance pay as Excelsior defended well.
Former ADO player, Stanley Elbers came closest to breaking the deadlock, Robert Zwinkels in the ADO goal forced to come out and block bravely. It looked as though the first half would end goalless.
In the forty fourth minute ADO captain Aaron Meijers broke down the left wing. He drove forward to the dead ball line, his vision was perfect as he picked out ADO’s most recent signing Bjørn Johnsen. The Norwegian took his chance well burying the ball into the back of the net, 1-0.
The second half was a very quiet affair. ADO again having most of the ball again, but failing to make it count. What shots were made went high and wide.
The final whistle ended ADO’s pre-season. Ten games played, winning all of them. They scored 45 and only conceded 5.
Everything is looking good for next Friday night when ADO kick-off their Eredivisie league campaign at home to FC Utrecht.
