ADO v S.J.C. Noordwijk (Friendly)

On Tuesday night, ADO Den Haag took on amateur side S.J.C. Noordwijk in a friendly game. The game arranged due to next weekend being an International break. The fans were allowed into the Cars Jeans stadium for free.

The ADO team was made up of first team players and those on the fringe of the first team squad. It took the home side a good five minutes to settle into any kind of rhythm. Elson Hooi was the man doing the damage for ADO, he may be slight of build, but he possesses a wizards box of trickery. Unfortunately sometimes he overdid the tricks and lost the ball cheaply.

Noordwijk began to get more into the game, they were doing well to keep ADO at bay, then in the twenty fifth minute they broke brilliantly, quick passing opened ADO up, their striker putting his effort just wide of the far post. ADO did not take note of the attacking threat from the visitors, just two minutes an almost identical move saw another shot just go wide of the back post.

ADO came closest to scoring when Dennis van der Heijden just missed the target. Just before the break, Robin Polley raced onto the ball and only some brave keeping by Kevin Schelvis kept the game goalless.

For the first thirty minutes of the second half, ADO totally dominated S.J.C. Hooi was swapping wings and creating all kinds of trouble for the opposition defence. It took only three minutes of the period for v/d Heijden to score with a header when he was left unmarked in the penalty area, 1-0.

ADO piles on the pressure, Noordwijk finding it difficult to get out of their own half. In the seventy sixth minute v/d Heijden got his second. A good break saw Thijmen Goppel race down the right wing, cross the ball hard and low into the danger area. ADO’s number nine won the race and slammed the ball into the back of the net, 2-0.

In the final ten minutes, Noordwijk really went at ADO. They were getting their chances, three times in a short period, they headed one effort over the bar, ADO keeper Tim Coremans had to produce a fine save, finally one shot fired well wide from in front of a gaping goal.

The game ended 2-0. Second half had been entertaining and everybody in the stadium was wishing that Noordwijk would get the goal they deserved.
