ADO ladies great news in Spain
Monday morning started with a golf clinic on a bit of a chilly start to the day. The squad were divided into two groups, the one doing some putting practice and the other letting rip on the driving ranges. There were quite a few big hitters out there that surprised many.
After dinner the players and staff posed outside the hotel for a group photo that the hotel requested. As per usual on this trip, the high spirits and fun continued as the ladies took a while to settle down.
The afternoon training session was back to football related stuff. The weather was beautiful, bright sunshine and temperature in the teens, not bad for the middle of January, unfortunately the temp dropped all to quickly as the players did some fitness training before more shooting practice and played keep ball. They looked sharp and ready to face FC Barcelona tomorrow night.
The team whilst away received some great news from back home, Monday night at the Circus theatre in Scheveningen, The Den Haag sports awards for 2012 were handed out. ADO ladies winning the team of the season after completing a league and cup double. The even better news and award went to the trainer of ADO ladies Sarina Wiegman for the best coach of the year. This is an accolade that is truly deserved after years of building up ADO ladies to the force they are today, despite losing many of her best players.
As everybody awaited the results the internet connection in the hotel failed causing a great deal of panic to get it fixed. The problem was unfortunately not solved in time so the news was relayed via telephone. Firstly Sarina won the trainer of the year. When the announcement was made for the team of the year the quiet of the hotel was shattered by cheers and screams of celebration.
After a few words, champagne was handed out to everybody there to celebrate in style, following a few words, an impromptu Karaoke broke out. A fun night and was great to witness ADO ladies triumphant joy.
