The men of DHC (B-Juniors) were looking forward to this game hoping to get revenge for last season’s 4-2 defeat pre-season to the ADO ladies. This time on home soil they expected to turn that result around. The home side though were to be disappointed.
Straight from the kick-off ADO soon found themselves behind, conceding in the first and tenth minutes. DHC were quick and caught ADO off guard with their fast interplay, this was most unADO like as they are usually the side that come out all guns blazing.
From the twentieth minute onwards the game changed in ADO’s favour as the ladies began to dominate the midfield, Tessa Oudejans being the driving force. Chances began to fall for ADO with both Kitty Susan and Renate Jansen going close.
The twenty first minute saw ADO pull a goal back, a cross from Oudejans being finished off by Michelle Vrieling, 2-1.
ADO second goal in the thirty fifth minute came from a free-kick outside the area taken by Lisanne Grimberg, the young keeper totally misjudged the flight of the ball which somehow found its way into the back of the net, 2-2.
Despite the four goals the first half was not an exciting affair, this was in stark contrast to what followed in the second half.
After Barbara Lorsheyd was called upon to make a fine diving save, Oudejans went close, it was on the hour the third of ADO’s goals came, a high ball from Susan found Vesna Veltrop who scored her first goal in an ADO shirt, 2-3.
Lorsheyd was replaced by reserve keeper Nada Es who was caught out by a long range shot in the sixty seventh minute that went through her hands and into the back of the net, 3-3.
ADO made it 3-4 in the eightieth minute, Jansen releasing Vrieling to fire ADO ladies back into the lead.
Straight from the kick-off DHC went forward, their striker was one on one with Es, he rounded her and looked odds on to score, he dwelled too long on the ball allowing Es to get back to her feet and with another defender managed to clear the ball to safety. The result of that long clearance saw Jansen race forward before lifting the ball perfectly over the keeper from distance, great finish, 3-5.
in the eighty third minute, with the men of DHC looking tired ADO scored again. Grimberg was by now being fouled a lot and after one too many she finally got a free-kick which she took herself. The clever kick was delivered low into the penalty area where Oudejans flicked the ball past the keeper, 3-6.
This was the end to the scoring and DHC were relieved when the final whistle blew. After a dodgy start by the ladies they came on strong and eventually overpowered the male opposition. A great test for the team who are continuing to score freely. The next test for them is a trip to Germany to face FC Cloppenburg in their final warm up match.
